    Image capture using digital cameras:

    • Leica DFC 490
      • High resolution digital colour camera.
      • Exposure time: 261µs - 10 min.
      • 8 Megapixel CCD.
      • 36 bit RGB colour.
    • Leica DFC 350 FX
      • Monochrome digital camera with high sensitivity in the VIS-IR spectrum.
      • Exposure time: 5µs - 10 min.
      • 1.4 Megapixel CCD.
      • 12 bit monochrome.
  • The Leica MZ16F stereo microscope captures images using the Leica Application Suite (LAS) software licensed for the image overlay (Binary Image) and multifocus (Multifocus) modules.

The LAS Binary Image module allows the acquisition of images in one channel and the creation of a composite image from individual images. The channels are usually fluorescence channels, but any other available contrast method can be used.

The Multifocus module enables high-quality surface detail imaging of large samples. This application creates Z-stacks of multifocus images that are combined - by means of an image editing algorithm - into a single sharp image that effectively extends its depth of field. This module compensates for lateral image shifts caused by varying Z and distortions due to non-telecentric optics.
