The STELA laser (Santiago TErawatt Laser) provides ultra-short femtosecond pulses (25 fs) with an energy of 1.2 J and 1010 contrast.
This output has a repetition rate of 10 Hz. The equipment has another lower energy output (1 mJ) with pulses with a time duration of 35 fs and a repetition rate of 1 KHz.
The facility also has several experimental vacuum chambers, particle detection systems, a high-precision microprocessing system and several beam diagnostics systems.
Some of the applications for which the equipment is prepared are proton acceleration, radioisotope production, high order harmonic production, nanoparticle production, materials processing, etc.
