The first stage of the Higher Technical School of Engineering building was inaugurated in February 2001. On 24 May 2002, the creation of the ETSE was published in the Diario Oficial de Galicia (Official Gazette of Galicia), and the works of the current building were finished in February 2003. In the same month the degree in Chemical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering were attached to the centre. During the 2002-2003 academic year, the implementation of teaching activities and the transfer of research groups from the Department of Chemical Engineering was completed.
The current teaching offer of the centre consists of a series of degree and master's degrees, in the fields of Computer Engineering and Chemistry. In the 2003-2004 academic year, the degree for Technical Engineer in Computer Systems began to be taught at the Higher Technical School of Engineering. In the 2007-2008 academic year, the in-house degree of Higher Graduate in Environmental Engineering was transformed into the University Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering. In the 2009-2010 academic year, the Degree in Computer Engineering and, in the 2010-2011 academic year, the Degree in Chemical Engineering began to be taught, thus completing the current offer of degree studies.
The range of master’s degrees on offer has been completed with the launch of the Inter-University Master's Degree in High Performance Computing and the University Master's Degree in Chemical and Environmental Process Engineering in the 2010-2011 academic year, the University Master's Degree in Information Technology in the 2011-2012 academic year, the University Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses in the 2013-2014 academic year, the Master's Degree in Big Data in the 2016-2016 academic year and the Master's Degree in Artificial Vision in the 2019-2020 academic year . In addition, in the 2015-2016 academic year the Double Degree in Computer Engineering and Mathematics began to be taught.
