The Centre for Modern Languages has been offering German language courses since 1976.
It also organizes the exams for the accreditation of language proficiency in this language.
Here you can find the equivalence between the CLM course levels and those of the CEFR.

The USC Centre for Modern Languages offers German courses to the university community and anyone interested over the age of 18. These courses are aligned with various levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
They last 50 hours, combining in-person sessions (40 h) with guided independent work (10 h), and are structured on a semester basis.

The A1.1. is the basic level. Those who wish to take a German course at this level can enroll directly through the Secretaría Virtual.
Those who have an accredited level at the CLM because they passed a course in the previous semester can enroll directly in the next level.
Those who do not have an accredited level at the CLM must first register for a placement test, which is free and conducted in person.
The placement test only grants access to the level achieved, but it does not serve as accreditation for the corresponding level according to the CEFR.
If multiple dates are offered for the placement test, it is recommended to attend the first one, as course spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The placement test is free of charge for students.

To certify your German language skills at USC, the university offers several options:
- Pass a German course at the USC CLM that completes a CEFR level.
- Take the German language proficiency tests at the USC CLM.
- Provide a recognized certificate or diploma from an accredited institution.

In undergraduate studies at USC, credits can be recognized for transversal skills, such as language training activities.
Completing German courses at the CLM grants recognition of ECTS credits in undergraduate studies, ranging from 3 ECTS for B1 level to 6 ECTS for C2 level.
