History

Legal studies have been present in European universities since their origins in the 11th century, always bearing in mind that the existence of legal training schools preceded them.

In the specific case of the USC, the origins of the Faculty of Law date back to 1649. Since then and until the present day, it has been exclusively in charge of university legal education in Galicia until the 1990’s, when other faculties with legal education were established in the Galician University System.
