Information about the degree in English Language and Literature

The aim of the degree in English Language and Literature is to train professionals with excellent English language skills, as well as specialised knowledge of the language, history, culture and literature of English-speaking countries.

The core of the degree is constituted by the major in English Language and Literature, which is made up of 20 subjects of 6 credits grouped into the following modules:

  • Instrumental English language
  • English Linguistics
  • English Literature
  • American literature
  • Postcolonial literature
  • History and culture

On the other hand, the basic training module, in addition to standardising the initial level of English and providing basic training in a second and third language, is designed to provide the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to approach, in general, the study of languages and literatures.

Finally, through the complementary and optional modules, students can acquire basic or intermediate level training in a second or third language and its literature, in General Linguistics, in Literary Theory or in Romance Philology, or combine initial training in one of these disciplines with an in-depth study of the contents studied in the major.
