The DEIN-Circular Master's Degree provides advanced, specialised, and multidisciplinary training in the field of sustainable economic development and innovation, with two alternative profiles, one oriented towards management and R&D policies and innovation and the other towards the Circular Economy and sustainable development.

In the academic year 2022-2023 the degree consolidates its strength in the speciality of innovation and sustainability management while establishing a new speciality in Sustainability and Circular Economy.

    Next academic year a reformulation of the contents of the Master's degree will take place. These changes are focus on eco-innovation, sustainability, ecological transition and Circular Economy. It combines critical theoretical training, analysis and management tools, policy analysis and design, as well as internships in companies and institutions.

    The DEIN-Circular Master's Degree is a Master's Degree aimed at graduates in Economics and Business Administration and Management and also at graduates in other social sciences such as Politics, Sociology, Geography, Information Sciences, Law and others such as Industrial and Agricultural Engineering, Experimental Sciences... 

    The DEIN Master trains students for professional opportunities in the fields of:
    •    R&D and innovation management in companies and public institutions, technology centres, R&D laboratories, etc;
    •    management of Circular Economy and sustainable development plans and projects at regional and local level;
    •    consultancy in innovation, innovation policies, European R&D&I and Circular Economy projects, innovative strategies, regional and local development, sustainable development and circular economy strategies.
    •    Scientific and academic research (Doctorate) in this fields.

    This master's degree has two orientations:

    -Academic-professional
    -Researcher

    In the academic-professional orientation, students will have to do external internships in a research center or in a research group specialized in related subjects.
    In the researcher orientation, students will have to take the optional subject

    In the research orientation, students must tae the optional subjectMethodology and Techniques of Applied Research in Development, Sustainability and Innovation.

    Moreover, the Master’s Degree is organized in two specializations:

    -Specialization in Research and Innovation Management
    -Specialization in Regional and Local Economic Development

    Students must take one of the two specializations, for this they must pass 7 optional subjects in the module of the chosen speciality.

  • Modality: with limited vacancies and specific criteria. 

  • The main objective of the Masters Degree in Economic Development and Innovation is to provide participants with advanced, specialised and multidisciplinary training aimed at academic-professional or research specialisation in the field of regional and local economic development and the analysis and management of R&D and innovation.

  • Mobility

    Student mobility is regulated through the “Regulation of inter-university exchange.” Exchange programs are managed through the International Relations Office, such as national exchange programs (SICUE) as well as Europeans (ERASMUS) and from outside the European Union (exchanges with Latin American countries or English-speaking countries):

    All students will have to take the 6 ECTS External Internships subject, consisting of internships in companies or institutions.

    Each student will have a teacher-tutor and a responsible-tutor in the company or institution in which they are developed, to monitor and evaluate them.
    Besides the functions assigned in the company, the student must carry out and submit a report of the activities performed and the benefits obtained for his/her training.

    Those who can prove work experience in the field of innovation and economic development may request the recognition of this subject, so that the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree may decide on its relevance, following the criteria established for this purpose.

  • All the students will have to do a Master’s thesis (TFM) of 6 ECTS.

    The Master’s thesis consists of the elaboration of an original project of individual character in which the demonstrate the acquired knowledge and skills in the subjects that make up the syllabus, under the supervision of an academic tutor. It must integrate and develop the training contents received, and the abilities, competencies and skills acquired during the Master's studies. The projects must be oriented to the application of the specific competencies of the degree, to enable students to search, manage, organize and interpret data relevant to their area of study, to make judgments that include a reflection on relevant social, scientific, technological or ethical issues, and to facilitate the development of critical, logical and creative thinking and judgment.

    In the case of students with an academic-professional orientation, the Master Thesis will have a clearly applied character and in the case of students with a research vocation, they must carry out a Master Thesis with a methodology and a theoretical load typical of a research work.
