The objective of the External Practices is the training of students in different aspects of the field of knowledge of Nutrition, Food Safety and Technology in companies related to the field of nutrition and food sector industries.
The student, therefore, will incorporate into the knowledge and skills acquired in the Master's subjects taught in the first course, practical knowledge in companies in the sector.
The supervised practices are developed in companies and institutions that have a collaboration agreement with the University. They are currently being carried out in the companies associated with the Food Cluster of Galicia, since there is an Agreement signed for this purpose, under the umbrella of a Framework Agreement between the three Universities and the Cluster. Likewise, the agreements with companies and professionals in the fields of Human Nutrition that the Faculty of Sciences currently has for the development of the Practicum of the degree of Human Nutrition and Dietetics will be expanded to provide more options for students.
The tutored practices to be carried out by students in companies and institutions can be carried out in the following lines:

· Food analysis
· Production and Marketing
· Packaging and Labeling
In general, national and international books and magazines belonging to the field of work to be developed will be used as bibliography. The corresponding databases will also be used for this.

The methodology will depend on the place in which it operates and the theme. In accordance with the general regulations and what is included in the agreements
Participate in the management, organization and development of food services for external practices carried out with different entities, the student will be assigned
an academic tutor from the Faculty of Sciences of Lugo, belonging to the degree, and an external tutor from the company or entity
with which the cooperation agreement was previously established.
Students, in coordination with the corresponding tutors of assigned practices, will carry out the tasks appropriate to the training framework that allows
guarantee the acquisition of the general and specific competences established therein.
In internships in companies, under the supervision of the external tutor, the student must develop the training project established in the internship agreement. The evaluation of the skills acquired during the completion of the External Practices will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the general regulations for external practices of the University of Santiago de Compostela and the specific regulations of the Faculty of Sciences:
75% of the grade will be assigned by the external tutor based on the score of the items that appear in the corresponding annex of the regulation.
25% of the grade will be assigned by the academic tutor after evaluating the final memory presented by the student and based on the items that appear in the corresponding annex of the regulation.
In cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the “Regulations for evaluating student academic performance and reviewing grades will apply.
The training activity comprises 18 ECTS credits, distributed as follows in accordance with the current study plan:
Practices: 360 contact hours (14.4 ECTS credits).
Individual tutoring: 15 contact hours and 15 hours of student work (1.2 ECTS credits).
Memory of External Practices: 60 hours of student work (2.4 ECTS credits)
Total: 375 contact hours and 75 hours of student work (18 ECTS credits).
The teaching language will be the one corresponding to the official languages of the Autonomous Community
