Social Education Degree

• Admission profile

  Given that no specific prior training is required, students can be admitted to the degree in Social Education if they meet the access requirements established by law, and it is recommended that they have a training profile in the area of Humanities and Social Sciences.

  The desirable qualities for the future student of the Degree in Social Education are:

  - Have the ability to take initiative and critically analyse social and educational realities.
  - Good ability to communicate, express, argue or dialogue.
  - Be sensitive to the realities of the environment, with a critical, reflective, and cooperative perspective.
  -Sense of responsibility, commitment to the task, rights, and duties towards others.
  - Group vision and conditions for working in a team.

• Minimum number of ECTS enrollment credits per student and school period

• Tutorial action and reception

  The USC has a programme of student tutors for undergraduate degrees, so that final year students, after training provided by the University, carry out guidance tasks for students who are starting their studies.

• Title suspension rules

  When a degree suspension occurs, the USC guarantees the adequate development of teachings that were initiated by their students until its suspension. For that, the Government Council approves the criteria related with the admission of new degree entry registration and the gradual suspension of teaching impartation, among others.

  If the suspended degree is substituted for a similar one —modifying the nature of the degree—, the new degree regulations will set the conditions to facilitate students the continuity of the new degree’s studies. These regulations will also set subject equivalences in both programmes.

• Access and admission rules

  Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to students with the following degrees/ diplomas or studies, or any other recognized as equivalent to these:
  A.1. Spanish Bachiller, European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate.
  A.2. Baccalaureate from European Union Member States’ education systems or other countries withinternational agreements.
  A.3. Advanced Technician in Vocational Training, Advanced Technician in Plastic Arts and Design orAdvanced Technician in Sports Education, from the Spanish Education System.
  A.4.Studies carried out in European Union Member States or in other countries with international reciprocal agreements which meet the academic requirements in those States to access their university study programmes.
  A.5. Official Spanish university degrees of Diplomado, Arquitecto Técnico, Ingeniero Técnico, Licenciado, Arquitecto, Ingeniero, Graduado or Máster Universitario.
  A.6. Partial (foreign or Spanish) university studies.
  Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is also possible for:
  B.1. People over twenty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
  B.2. People over forty with work or professional experience related to a university field of knowledge.
  B.3. People over forty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
  Likewise, access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to:
  C.1. People meeting the requirements to enter university according to the Spanish Education System regulations prior to Ley Orgánica 8/2013, of December 9.

The center has 14 classrooms for general use, with capacity between 50 and 120 seats, and 9 seminar rooms with 20 seats, a room for group dynamics, a computer room for teaching and a room with technology media and media research audiovisuals.

Among the areas designated for students, there is a computer room, that is free to use, equipped with 15 computers and tables for group work.

We can also highlight that wireless Internet connection is available everywhere in the Faculty.

In the south campus, the Library is located in the central module that the Faculties of Education and Psychology share. In the north campus, the library is on the ground floor of the Faculty, and has more than 80 reading stations.

Design, develop and evaluate educational processes (plans, programmes, projects or activities) that refer to Social Education in the different fields of the socio-educational intervention in which is defined their professional performance, individual and/or collaboration with other educational and social professionals.
Use strategies, methodologies, techniques and means that allow a differentiated educational intervention according to the subjects, groups and/or collectives where the social educators develop their professional activity. From childhood to the old age, the social educator also addresses the different social circumstances in institutional and community contexts where people live their daily life.
Know the characteristics that define the profession of social educator and be trained to take decisions regarding their personal, academic and professional development

• Basic skills

  Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio;

  Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar sus conocimientos a su trabajo o vocación de una forma profesional y posean las competencias que suelen demostrarse por medio de la elaboración y defensa de argumentos y la resolución de problemas dentro de su área de estudio;

  Que los estudiantes tengan la capacidad de reunir e interpretar datos relevantes (normalmente dentro de su área de estudio) para emitir juicios que incluyan una reflexión sobre temas relevantes de índole social, científica o ética;

  Que los estudiantes puedan transmitir información, ideas, problemas y soluciones a un público tanto especializado como no especializado;

  Que los estudiantes hayan desarrollado aquellas habilidades de aprendizaje necesarias para emprender estudios posteriores con un alto grado de autonomía.

• Generic skills

  1. Know and understand the academic and scientific foundations on which their educational and professional field is based.
  2. Ability to analyze the socio-political, economic, educational, cultural and linguistic realities in which the professional work of social educators and serves both as prospective diagnostic terms.
  3. Apply theoretical and methodological knowledge necessary for planning and evaluation of educational interventions.
  4. Promote and develop educational and / or social and educational actions in different institutional and community settings.

• Specific skills

  La titulada o titulado de Grado en Educación Social deberá demostrar conocimientos y capacidades que le permitan una comprensión básica del marco teórico y contextual de su labor profesional y deberá así mismo demostrar conocimientos y destrezas que le permitan promover y desenvolver procesos de acción-intervención socioeducativa.

Mobility

The Faculty has the collaboration of several professors who act as academic coordinators, and whose function is to tutor and assist the host and foreign students in their academic decisions.

Student mobility takes place from the second year of studies in the degree, in four-month or annual periods. The selection of candidates is carried out, for each call or programme, by a Selection Committee composed of the dean, the vice dean responsible for exchange programmes, the person responsible for the UAXCD and the academic coordinators, in accordance with grading criteria, previously established, which take into account the academic record, a report and, if applicable, the language skills required by the destination University

The mobility of students is regulated through the "Regulation of inter-university exchanges". Through the Office of Foreign Relations, both national (SICUE), European (ERASMUS) and non-EU exchange programmes (exchanges with Latin American countries or English-speaking countries) are managed:

Internships

El título de grado de Educación Social incluye 30 créditos de prácticas externas, Practicum, de carácter obligatorio.
Para poder desarrollarlo, se establecieron convenios de colaboración con la Administración e instituciones sociales (fundaciones, asociaciones y ONG’s), a fin de regular la presencia del alumnado en los diferentes servicios y favorecer el trabajo colaborativo entre la Universidad y dichos centros.

Para poder matricularse del Trabajo de Fin de Grado el alumnado deberá superar 150 créditos de formación básica y obligatoria. En el momento de presentación del trabajo deberá tener superados 234 créditos.
