According to the Law on Prevention of Occupational Risks, medical check-ups are voluntary, except in cases where they are essential to assess the effects of working conditions on employees’ health or to verify whether the employee's state of health may constitute a danger to himself, to other employees or to other persons related to the company, or when this is established in a legal provision.

The check-ups may be:

  • Initial: after starting work.
  • After assignment to specific tasks with new health risks.
  • After a prolonged absence by the employee for health reasons, with the aim of discovering possible occupational origins and recommending appropriate action to protect the employee.
  • Periodic: periodic health surveillance.

In compliance with the mandate of the Law on Risk Prevention, USC medical check-ups are specific medical check-ups against the risks arising from work, and periodic, depending on the level of risk and the individual characteristics of the staff.

Different protocols are applied depending on whether the employee is exposed to noise, work at heights, work with data visualisation screens, biological agents, chemical agents, radiation, handling loads, repeated movements, etc.

  • The check-ups consist of:

    • Clinical-occupational history which includes two distinct sections: on the one hand, we carry out a study of the work position (assessing the specific risks of that position by consulting the risk assessment) and on the other hand, a detailed anamnesis and physical check-up is carried out.
    • General blood and urine analysis and analysis adapted to the job position.
    • Electrocardiogram.
    • Murmur test.
    • Dry eye test.
    • Assessment of harassment at work
    • Vision test, including eye pressure measurement.
    • Spirometry and audiometry, where indicated.
    • Test for blood in stools, according to protocol.
