- Knowledge of the molecular-genetic, environmental and individual basis in which settles addiction.
- Understand the importance of biopsychosocial diagnostic to perform an effective professional intervention.
- Understanding the addictive process in individual and social aspects.
- Training in specialized bibliography management, as well in the use of information and communication technologies to prepare the matter.
PROGRAM OF THEORIC CLASSES
1. Introduction
An anthropological perspective: the sociocultural context of addictive behaviors.
2. Neurobiology of addiction
Neurobiological mechanisms of addictive behaviors.
Genetics and addiction vulnerability.
3. Pathology, diagnosis and treatment of addiction
Diagnosis and evaluation of addiction: organic and psychological pathology and social consequences associated to addictive behavior.
Psychiatric disorders addictive pathology, differential diagnosis, dual diagnosis, etc..
Therapy and treatment of addiction.
Integration of addiction treatment and psychiatric treatment in dual diagnosis / co-morbid conditions.
4. Psychotherapy in addictive behaviors
Possible approaches and perspectives.
Therapeutic groups, the rede therapy, etc.
5. Pharmacological Treatments
Addressing withdrawal syndromes.
Treatment of acute intoxication.
Interventions with special populations: pregnant women, HIV, etc.

Be used:
- Expositive classes and work in small groups in which will be discussed current aspects of Addictive Behaviors.
-Seminars given by students on specific topics related to the course content.
-Practice using information and communications technologies to the knowledge of Addictive Behaviors.
Classroom assistance to both expositor and interactive sessions will be required, and during their development it will be a continuous evaluation. In particular, content of the reports presented, interventions from the students, their style and clarity of exposition, their ability to answer the questions raised by other students and the teacher, as well as the participation and interest showed in the teaching sessions will be assessment.
