Basic and general:
CG1: To have knowledge that provide a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and / or applying ideas, often within a research context, knowing how to translate industrial needs in terms of R & D in the field of mathematics Industrial.
CG4: To have the ability to communicate the findings to specialist and non-specialist audiences in a clear and unambiguous way.
Specific:
CE4: To be able to select a set of numerical techniques, languages and tools, appropriate to solve a mathematical model.
CE5: To be able to validate and interpret the results, comparing them with visualizations, experimental measurements and functional requirements of the physical engineering system.
From "Numerical simulation":
CS1: To know, be able to select or use how to handle most suitable professional software tools (both commercial and free) for the simulation of processes in the industrial and business sector.
CS2: To adapt, modify and implement software tools for numerical simulation.
Notes on the subject and references will be provided to the students.
The lessons will focus on the presentation of the problems to be solved as well as recalling the main features of the numerical methods behind Iber and FreeFem++. Then, those software will be employed to get and analyse the numerical solution of the proposed problems.
Group work and oral presentation of the proposed exercises and projects will be promoted.
As a result from the employed methodology, this subject is focused on skills CG1, CG4, CE4, CE5, CS1, CS2.
Criteria for the 1st assessment opportunity
1. Assessment regarding Iber (66% of the final mark):
a) Solution of problems and/or exercises proposed and developed at lessons (26% of the final mark).
b) Final project and oral presentation (40% of the final mark).
2. Assessment regarding FreeFem++ (34% of the final mark): solution of problems and/or exercises proposed and developed at lessons.
To pass te subject it is necessary to have passed both softwar.
Criteria for the 2nd assessment opportunity: the same as for the 1st opportunity. Exercises and projects must be presented at the second opportunity examination date.
- Hours of student time in presence: 47 h.
- Hours of student work: 103 h.
- Total: 150 Hours.
