BASIC AND GENERAL:
BC7 - That students know how to apply acquired knowledge and problem-solving skills in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study.
BC8 - Students are able to integrate knowledge and deal with the complexities of making judgements based on incomplete or limited information, including reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities associated with the application of their knowledge and judgements.
BC9 - Students are able to communicate their conclusions and the ultimate knowledge and reasons that support them to specialised and non-specialised audiences in a clear and unambiguous way.
GC3 - Value responsibility in the management of information and knowledge in the field of industrial chemistry and chemical research.
GC6 - Correctly apply the new technologies for gathering and organising information to solve problems in professional activity
GC8 - Value the human, economic, legal and technical dimension in professional practice, as well as the impact of chemistry on the environment and on the sustainable development of society.
TRANSVERSALS:
TC1 - Prepare, write and publicly defend reports of a scientific and technical nature.
TC2 - Work in teams and adapt to multidisciplinary teams.
TC3 - Work autonomously and efficiently in the daily practice of research or professional activity.
TC4 - Appreciate the value of quality and continuous improvement, acting with rigour, responsibility and professional ethics.
SPECIFIC:
SC2 - Propose alternatives for the resolution of complex chemical problems in the different chemical specialities.
SC4 - Innovate in the methods of synthesis and chemical analysis related to the different areas of chemistry.
SC7 - Operate with advanced instrumentation for chemical analysis and structural determination.
SC8 - Analyse and use the data obtained autonomously in complex laboratory experiments relating them to the appropriate chemical, physical or biological techniques, including the use of primary bibliographic sources.
On-site theory classes. Lectures complemented with virtual teaching tools.
-Seminars conducted by the master's degree teaching staff or with invited professionals from business, administration or other universities. Interactive sessions related to the different subjects with debates and exchange of opinions with students. In addition, there will be at least one field visit to a clinical or toxicological laboratory.
-Oral presentation of papers, reports, etc. including discussions with teachers and students.
-Personal study based on different sources of information.
-Performance of the different tests to verify the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge and the acquisition of skills and attitudes.
The assessment will consist of two parts:
- Continuous assessment (30 %), which may consist of:
- Exercises and clinical cases handed in to the teacher.
- Completion and presentation in class of programmed work (individual or group).
- Work in tutorials.
- Final exam (70%): the final exam will deal with theoretical and applied aspects of the subject.
The student must attend at least 70% of the face-to-face classes: lectures, seminars and tutorials. Continuous assessment cannot be carried out correctly if the student does not attend class; ideally, he/she should actively participate in the development of all face-to-face activities.
he student's grade will be the one obtained by weighting the final exam with the continuous assessment; although in order to have the weighting option it is necessary to have a minimum grade of 4 out of 10 points in the final exam. The student's grade will not be lower than the final exam or the grade obtained by weighting it with the continuous assessment.
- For cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations on the assessment of students' academic performance and review of grades shall apply.
Classroom lectures 17
On-site seminars 6
Scheduled face-to-face tutorials 1
Individual self-study of the student 51
- It is highly recommended to attend lectures from the first day.
- It is important to keep the study of the subject "up to date".
- Once you have finished reading a topic, it is useful to make a summary of the important points, identifying the basic issues to remember and making sure you know both their meaning and the conditions under which they can be applied.
- Discussion of clinical cases is highly recommended for learning this subject.
A virtual classroom on the Moodle platform (Virtual Campus of the USC, https://cv.usc.es/) will be available to students, which will serve as a repository of the material necessary for the correct development of the subject as well as a channel of communication with students. In addition, another direct communication channel may be operational through the MS-Teams application.
