Master in Drug Research and Development

This Master was designed with two itineraries, pharmacology or pharmaceutical technology.
To carry out a specific itinerary, the student must take the optional subjects of the corresponding itinerary.
Alternatively, the student may study, at their choice, subjects from both itineraries.

The Master in Drug Research and Development offers a dynamic and enriching experience designed to prepare you for the challenges of pharmaceutical research.

Core Mandatory Subjects: The program includes 4 mandatory subjects covering the essential aspects of drug research, allowing students from diverse backgrounds to acquire a solid foundation in the field.

Specialized Tracks: Students can choose between two tracks: Pharmacology or Pharmaceutical Technology. Each track comprises 15 ECTS credits distributed across five elective subjects. Courses from both tracks can be taken. Students are advised to review the course schedule before selecting subjects to avoid conflicts.

Practical Training: A fundamental part of the program is the completion of the Master's Thesis, which represents 24 ECTS credits and allows students to immerse themselves in real research projects led by research excellence groups associated with the master's program. This practical experience provides a unique opportunity to apply and expand the knowledge acquired during the program, preparing you for a professional career in drug research.

• Tutorial action and reception

  En la inauguración del curso, el equipo de decanal y el coordinador/a del Máster organizarán una sesión de recepción de los estudiantes, en la que se dará la información oportuna para iniciar los estudios de Máster y se realizarán actividades dirigidas a promover la interacción entre los estudiantes con el fin de generar un grupo integrado. El personal de administración y servicios asignado a los departamentos que participan en la enseñanza del Máster, así como el asignado a la Facultad de Farmacia, proporcionará apoyo directo en esta tarea.

  La Comisión del Título del Máster designará un tutor para cada uno de los estudiantes, quien será la persona encargada de mantener abierta una forma de comunicación directa y dinámica con el estudiante.

  Todos los profesores del Máster estarán disponibles para los estudiantes a través de la USC virtual y, en persona durante las horas de tutorías establecidas, que se pueden consultar a través de la USC virtual.

  Los estudiantes también contarán con el apoyo de otros estudiantes que se hayan graduado en el Máster en los cursos anteriores y que hayan decidido ampliar su formación de posgrado con la realización de su tesis doctoral.

  En el caso de estudiantes extranjeros, se les indicará la posibilidad de que puedan realizar algunos de los cursos de español para extranjeros o de gallego para lo que no sean gallego hablantes, que se ofrecen en el Centro de Lenguas Modernas.

  Para acceder aos ensinos oficiais de Máster será necesario estar en posesión de:
  A.1. Un título universitario oficial español.
  A.2. Un título expedido por unha institución de educación superior pertencente a outro Estado integrante do Espazo Europeo de Educación Superior que faculte no mesmo para o acceso a ensinos de Máster.
  A.3. Un título pertencente a un sistema educativo alleo ao Espazo Europeo de Educación, previa comprobación pola Universidade de que o citado título acredita un nivel de formación equivalente aos correspondentes títulos universitarios oficiais españois e faculta no país expedidor do título para o acceso a ensinos de posgrao.
  A.4. Un título superior das Ensinanzas Artísticas Superiores do sistema educativo español.

The objective of the TFM is to initiate the student in the research and development of medicines. It consists of the development, presentation and defense of a research work in the fields of Pharmacology or Pharmaceutical Technology, that aims initiating the students in research tasks, and allowing them to demonstrate knowledge, skills and aptitudes associated with the Title. It has 24 compulsory ECTS credits.
Each TFM will be held under the tutelage of a tutor and there may be a co-tutor. The tutors of TFM are professors of the areas involved in the Master in Drug R & D.
The tutor organizes work sessions with the student for establishing the tasks to be carried out. It is responsible for defining the work with the student, guiding its development, guaranteeing the fulfillment of the established objectives, doing the following-up and issuing a final report to authorize the Master thesis defense.
Each student can customize his/her schedule as much as possible and adapt it to his/her needs. For the defense, the student must have passed all other credits of the degree.
