Study of the interaction between Literatures in English and other artistic manifestations in the anglophone context, like painting, theatre, television or cinema. Analysis of the thematic and aesthetic similitudes and differences; revision of the specificities, possibilities and boundaries of the different languages employed in each art form; samples of the incorporation of aspects belonging to one artistic discipline into another, more concretely in the context of English speaking countries/cultures.
This subject places special emphasis on the applicability of the contents discussed into professional fields like cultural criticism, or in management of cultural contents, thus the students are provided with the suitable critical vocabulary and are taught how to comment on artistic products and how to write reviews/ research articles/ critiques on them.
This subject attempts to initiate the students into the knowledge of the most relevant perspectives and research methods for the advanced study of artistic manifestations, more specifically films, television shows, plays and paintings — created and produced in the different English-speaking countries. Due to its specific competences and the object of study, this subject will allow the students to assimilate different critical approaches to artistic and audiovisual texts, and acquire those research tools that will lead them to show their capacity to apply those critical approaches to their analysis of texts, authors and historical periods.

If necessary, some basic notions for the correct analysis of audiovisual texts will be provided at the beginning of the course
*Attendance and active class participation. Attendance is compulsory (20%) (Assessed competences: G01, G02, G05, E09, E11, E13)
*Elaboration of practical exercises (80%) (Assessed competences: G02, G04, G05, G06, E13)
*The evaluation system will be the same in May and in July
In the case of students who are EXEMPT of attendance and hold an official certificate, they will consult with the teacher the delivery of activities and the oral or written presentation of the assignments, which will take place at the end of the semester of the course. The same criteria will be applied to students who have failed and retake the subject
In case of any fraudulent exercise, presentation and/or exam, we will implement the rules included in article 16 of the "Normativa de avaliación do rendemento académico dos estudantes e de revisión de cualificacións”
An estimate of weekly time is between 8-10 hours, including activities and preparation of written essays/ presentation.
