• To offer the knowledge that defines economics as a scientific discipline, including its theories, history, methods, techniques and areas of application, at a level that is supported by advanced textbooks and includes some of the most relevant aspects that are at the forefront of knowledge in economics.
• To qualify students to develop and defend arguments on economic issues at a general and non-specialised level, as well as to solve problems on these issues, making use of their knowledge of the economic reality, theories, models and scientific methods specific to economics.
• To prepare students to identify, collect and interpret relevant data on economic issues, incorporating relevant considerations on their social, scientific or ethical dimension in the elaboration of judgements and proposals.
• To provide students with the ability to communicate information, ideas, problems and proposals for solutions to economic issues to both specialised and non-specialised audiences, making use of both verbal and written language and the means and techniques of representation of relationships and presentation of data used in economics.
