1) Specific information session
On one of the first days of the course, the Dean's team explains the details of how the Faculty operates: the physical location of the facilities (computer labs, classrooms, library, study halls, professors' offices, etc.), the Faculty's governing bodies on which students are represented (Department Councils, Faculty Boards, etc.), and some general guidelines on the curriculum: nature of the courses, assessments, enrollment advice, examination sessions, etc.
2) General information session
Likewise, during the first two weeks of the course, a group of institutional representatives, including the Vice-Rector for University Community and Social Commitment and the University Community Ombudsman, visit the Faculty for a day and inform new students about the general functioning of the University, their rights and responsibilities, and some offerings beyond the strictly academic: volunteer programs, sports, theater, dance, etc. who
complete their human development.
The USC has a student tutor program for undergraduate degrees. After receiving training provided by the University, final-year students provide guidance to students beginning their studies.
Student Tutor Program Information:
Student Tutor Program
During the first year, each student is assigned a tutor who is responsible for monitoring and advising them on their academic progress. At the beginning of the year, at least two interviews (one per semester) are scheduled with their tutor, who is then informed of their academic satisfaction and their level of integration into the University and the city. The second-quarter interview serves to review the course and also to prepare for the next semester based on the degree of achievement of objectives and the student's desires or preferences. Tutoring begins on the first day of the incoming course and continues throughout the academic year. This system, implemented for more than five years, aims to establish a very close relationship with the student so that they have the maximum amount of information and the guidance they need.
