1. To provide a rational and critical knowledge of the past of the human being by means of a complete education of the procedures and technologies that an Archeologist can use in any period, culture and territory to obtain information of the past societies, of such a way, this knowledge help to the student to recognize and to select the technologies and procedures most adapted for the resolution of historical problems.
2. To get a basic knowledge of the principal methods, technologies and tools of analysis of the historian / archeologist. Especially standing out those more related to the professional activities to which the graduates in History apply.
3. To explain the past from the study of his archaeological , documentary or artistic remains : the purpose is to be able to do it in different means in the future as that of the teaching , the work in public centers of diffusion of the knowledge (museums), the archives or public and privated companies of archaeological and tourist heritage
4. To order, to organize, to define or to synthesize the information of archaeological, documentary or bibliographic sources: to be employed at any private arquive, public and private administration, etc.

- Aptitude to make a project of archaeological investigation, to be able to formulate clever questions and to develope the aims of the same one.
- Competence to make the fieldwork necessary for obtaining archaeological data, and to choose the methods and the technologies adapted to develop it.
- Suitability to make a critical analysis of the obtained information, and to announce the results.
- Aptitude to value and manage the archaeological heritage.
Teaching will take place entirely in the classroom, with a theoretical and practical character.
In the theoretical classes, the content of the syllabus will be explained. The explanation will be supported by tables that facilitate understanding and memorization through images, plans, drawings, photographs and, as far as possible, materials. The specific bibliography of each topic will be provided in order to deepen in the aspects treated and in other related topics. The students will be made to reflect on the topics exposed, exercising them in the formulation of hypotheses, in the analysis of information and in the development of their critical capacity.
The interactive classes will focus on the practical learning of specific aspects of the subject. Work will be done with techniques derived from prospecting, excavation and laboratory techniques (classification and analitical techniques on archaeological materials), as well as procedures derived from critical analysis.
There will also be field practice consisting of a visit to a site, a museum or a research centre, which will allow direct contact with archaeological problems and their conservation as heritage. The field trip will only be carried out if it is financed and if the circumstances of the centres to be visited allow it.
The assessment system will be done based on:
- A final written test to check the knowledge acquired by the students, which will be carried out on the official date. This test will be assessed with 50% of the final mark.
-The practices carried out in the interactive classrooms, inlcuding written reports, will be assessed with 40% of the mark.
-The attendance and active involvement on lectures and field practices will be valued with 10% of the note.
At least 45% of each part has to be achieved in order to be evaluated.
The attendance is mandatory and at least 75% of absences must be justified.
In July, students will take a theory test and present the practices indicated by the lecturer, if they have not passed them previously.
-In the case of official dispensation, students will be evaluated on the basis of the exam (60% of the mark), a work on the site and museum chosen for the field practice (10% of the note), and the work equivalent to the interactive classes (40% of the mark). The work should be agreed with the professor at the beginning of the term.
Activities in complete group (theoretical classes): 30 hours.
Activities in limited group (practices): 16 hours.
Tutorships in very limited group: 2 hours.
Evaluation: 2 hours.
Subtotal: 50 hours
Individual work: I study: 40 hours.
To writte (work): 30 hours.
Preparation of activities in limited group: 30 hours.
Subtotal: 100 hours.
TOTAL: 150 hours.
Students are recommended to participate in theoretical and interactive lectures. Also that they are recommended to ask for tutorial for the resolution of any doubt that arises during their study.
In the case of academic fraud as defined in article 42 of the USC Coexistence Law of March 2023, the sanctions foreseen in article 11 will be applied in the case of plagiarism in academic work or exams or non-consensual use of Artificial Intelligence tools.
