Seminars:
17 hours of seminars will be conducted where practical exercises related to the course contents (problems and issues) will be addressed.

At the end of the semester, a short-question exam will be held about the content taught in the course.

The course is structured based on 20 hours of theoretical classes and 17 hours of practical seminars where issues and problems related to the course content will be mainly discussed. The theoretical classes will be held in the classroom with the support of projections, and the practical classes will primarily involve board work to collectively solve problems and issues.

Students will carry out an individual project related to a biocompatible ceramic, metallic, polymeric, or composite material, which will include a summary of the nature, preparation, and properties of the material, its uses, and market presence. Additionally, the project can focus on a biosensor.

Class attendance is not mandatory, and similarly, completion of the individual project is also optional.

A mixed assessment will be applied based on:
a) The grade obtained by the student in a final exam consisting of ten short questions. The result of this evaluation will constitute 80% of the final grade.
b) The grade achieved with the evaluation of a project carried out during the course. This will account for 10% of the final grade.
c) Continuous assessment in seminars and theoretical classes (10%).

It is estimated that the total amount of time the student will work is around 112.5 hours, distributed as follows:

In-person hours: 40.5 (20 of theoretical teaching, 17 of seminars, 1.5 of tutorials, 2 of exam and review).
Student work hours: 72

Consistency throughout the course and attendance at classes and seminars.

It is advisable to have prior general knowledge of:

- Physics, Chemistry, Thermodynamics and Chemical Kinetics, Developmental Biology and Tissue Biology, Biochemistry.

It is necessary to be familiar with the operation of the Virtual Campus since a virtual classroom on the Moodle platform will be operational.
