Biomass

Stage 1.
Acquisition of basic knowledge on some aspects of renewable energy, and more specifically on Biomass, which are not addressed in undergraduate studies.

Train the student to propose initiatives applicable to different communities selecting the best alternative (solid, liquid or gaseous biofuels), and publicize the economic and social advantages of implementing this sustainable fuel production system in rural Galicia as an alternative. to the use of fossil fuels.

To develop in the student the capacity to analyze the pros and cons of the implementation of biomass as a sustainable energy source, and to publicize the current status of this energy alternative using the models in operation in Spain.

Train the student to expose the possibility of using this energy source in the short term as a substitute for conventional fuels in a large part of Galician rural geography, encompassing in the proposal the sustainability model of the resource.

Train the student to recognize, select, size and expose the most efficient, sustainable, and least environmental impact energy production systems from biomass.

Knowledge of the characteristics and basic properties of liquid fuels of major relevance in the field of transport, raw materials and associated production processes.

BASIC AND GENERAL

Stage 1.
The matter will be developed in hours of master classes and various activities (seminars, round tables, colloquia, etc.), using all the audiovisual means that are available and that make the matter enjoyable and formative for the student.
The student will be given all the base material necessary for the study of the subject through the subject's virtual website.
The student will have the corresponding tutorial hours to answer questions, expand knowledge and improve the presentation processes of the seminars.
Students must develop in a group or individually throughout the course a work that they must present.
Exceptionally, a final exam of the subject may be carried out.
The theoretical part is developed with the help of different audiovisual media that generate an attractive content proposal and facilitate their understanding. During the development of the agenda, computer programs and the Internet may be used.
All the student's tasks (study, work, readings) will be guided by the academic staff in tutorials that may be face-to-face or carried out through the USC-virtual means.
In all cases, the tools available in the virtual USC will be used to provide students with the necessary material for the development of the subject (presentations, notes, supporting texts, bibliography, videos, etc.) and to establish communication fluent teacher-student.
The hygienic-sanitary measures recommended in the protocols set by the Faculty will be taken (hydrogel and mandatory mask).

Article 16. Fraudulent performance of exercises or tests.
The fraudulent performance of any exercise or test required in the evaluation of a subject will imply the qualification of failure in the corresponding call, regardless of the disciplinary process that may be followed against the offending student. It is considered fraudulent, among others, the realization of plagiarized works or obtained from sources accessible to the public without re-elaboration or reinterpretation and without citations to the authors and the sources.

Stage 2. Distance The system of evaluation will be the same that the described for the stage 1.
The final examination will be face-to-face if the sanitary rules allow it. If it is not possible a face-to-face examination, east will be telematic. The educational programming is designed for the stage 1 (adapted normality) but has a Plan of contingency to end to minimise the impact of a possible burgeon of the COVID-19, incorporating a stage 2 (distance) and a stage 3 (closing of installations).
