Approach environmental issues from a dynamic and attractive perspective that makes the student feel like a living and active part of the subject.
Generate concerns and interest on environmental issues and share them with the rest of the classmates and the teacher by encouraging active participation and debate in the classroom.
UNIT 1. Climate change. A dangerous race ...
UNIT 2. Renewable energy as a solution for the future.
UNIT 3. Transgenic food, the solution? Organic food as an alternative.
UNIT 4. By tags in the sea.
UNIT 5. Topics of interest proposed by students.
Depending on the year mainly used documentation obtained from the internet and therefore the links vary from year to year, the current press part.
Understanding of many environmental aspects from a cross-sectional point of view.
Scenario 1. Adapted normality
All the topics are presented in an active and attractive format to facilitate their exposition and understanding. Thus, PowerPoint is used as the main tool, complemented by the broadcasting of videos and the provision of a summary of the topic on paper and on the virtual website by the students. Every day the news in the press related to the environment is reviewed and a part of the class is dedicated to discussing them.
The student will be given all the base material necessary for the study of the subject through the subject's virtual website.
The student will have the corresponding tutorial hours to answer questions, expand knowledge and improve the presentation processes of the seminars. At the end of the Course, students are given a CD with all the topics covered, bibliography, links, etc.
In all cases, the tools available on the virtual USC will be used to provide students with the necessary material for the development of the subject (presentations, notes, supporting texts, bibliography, videos, etc.) and to establish communication fluent teacher-student.
The hygienic-sanitary measures recommended in the protocols established by the Faculty (hydrogel and mandatory mask) will be taken.
Scenario 2. Distance
No modifications are expected in the type of expository and interactive teaching, the traditional parameters of enrollment are maintained. If the distancing measures did not allow all the students in the subject to attend face-to-face classes in the assigned classroom and there is not a larger teaching space to accommodate all the students, then some of these measures would be arbitrated:
- Stream the class for part of the students who would follow them from another teaching space of the faculty. Shifts would be established so that all students will follow classes in equal conditions.
- Stream the class for part of the students who would follow them from home. Shifts would be established so that all students will follow classes in equal conditions.
Scenario 3. Closure of the USC facilities
Teaching will be telematic and classes will be held synchronously during official class time. It may be that, due to unsuccessful causes, some of the classes will be held asynchronously, which will be communicated to the students in advance.
All student tasks (study, work, readings) in the afternoon-night, guided by the academic staff in tutorials that may be face-to-face or carried out through the means of the virtual USC.
In all cases, the tools available in the virtual USC will be used to provide students with the necessary material for the development of the subject (presentations, notes, supporting texts, bibliography, videos, etc.) and to establish communication fluent teacher-student.
Scenario 1. Adapted normality
At the end of the Course the student must submit a work related to the subject. This work is valued jointly with the attendance and participation of the students in the classes.
Students who did not turn in the work or undergo the evaluation of any other compulsory activity will obtain the grade of not presented.
Scenario 2. Distance
The evaluation system will be the same as that described for scenario 1.
Scenario 3. Closure of the USC facilities
The evaluation system will be the same as that described for scenario 1.
In all cases, the tools available on the virtual USC will be used to provide students with the necessary material for the development of the subject (presentations, notes, supporting texts, bibliography, videos, etc.) and to establish communication fluent teacher-student.
Attendance to class (30 h), time necessary to prepare the work (10 h), and that will depend on the chosen subject and the student, and the time of the activities that arise and the request of them (5 h).
Active attendance to classes.
The Environment program is a dynamic program that evolves every year and is updated to cover the students' concerns and encourages debate and participation in the field of the environment. Therefore, and although we start from a basic program and that tries to touch all the most outstanding themes of the environment and that was elaborated from the requests of the students, every year they touch current issues and that the students propose to him the teacher. The themes are tremendously cross-cutting ranging from climate change from environmental, social, economic or political aspects to issues related to food, and specifically with transgenics or organic farming, through the field of renewable energy or current issues proposed by the students.
Plan of contingency
Of compliance with the Agreement of the Council of Government of 19 June 2020 by which regulate the bases for the development of the teaching during the academic course 2020-2021, and to end to minimise the impact of a possible burgeon of the COVID-19, incorporate plans of contingency that contemplate a stage 2 (distance) and a stage 3 (closing of installations).
