Summary
Silvia Federici articulates everything that inhabits everyday life, the naturalized, the invisible, and not only brings a political perspective to what is familiar to us, but also encourages us to imagine what kind of transformations can arise from that space. With this work, we pretend to analyze the Italoamerican feminists reflections on reproductive labor and the possibilities of articulating a politics of the commons based on it. Using as a starting point the feminist critique of Marx and reviewing many notions from the classical Marxist framework, we will explore how Federici points to the centrality of domestic work in the process of capitalist accumulation, as well as to the construction of alternatives that might be able to contain this process. We will see that the author and activist concrete proposal lies in the construction of a politics of the commons that manages not only to modify the system, but also our subjectivities and relationships. By always placing reproduction and everyday life at the center of her politics, Federici sees the commons as a basis for anti-capitalist resistance and a glimpse of a new way of life and society.
