Con01: Recognize the structure and function of the different cell types. Understand diversity and remember biological taxonomy.
Con05: Know and interpret the diversity of the microbial world, metabolism, physiology and genetics that regulate its functions.
Con07: Know and interpret the structure, organization, transmission, expression, regulation and evolution of genetic material.
H/D06: Analyze and critically evaluate the genetic, molecular and biochemical markers associated with different pathologies and traits of interest.
H/D08: Plan and use the main experimental methods aimed at the analysis of biological activity, isolation techniques, characterization of biological molecules, development of therapeutic systems and evaluation of active substances.
H/D12: Prepare, write and present orally a study or project in the field of Biochemistry, critically interpreting the results obtained and evaluating the conclusions reached.
Comp01: Develop the ability to properly organize and plan work, based on a synthesis and analysis that allows decision-making.
Comp07: Use the basic tools of information and communication technologies.
The achievement of the basic training of the student will realise by means of teaching expositiva, interactive teaching and the realisation of works.
The teaching expositiva will realise through masterclasses (30h), where will explain the theoretical foundations of the matter helping of the audiovisual means and of another type that consider convenient the professor. These classes purchase a special importance due to the fact that the students have scarce knowledges related with the matter. It will look for the active participation of the student, that will be incentivado to take part continuously.
The interactive teaching will realise by means of practices of laboratory and seminars in which they will expose works.
The practices of the asignatura (15h), of compulsory assistance, will serve for the illustration of the theoretical contents of the matter and will be oriented fundamentally to that the student purchase skills and practical experiences. They will employ technicians of the basic immunological.
The seminars, of compulsory assistance, will allow to pose individual activities or in group that will improve the participation of the alumnado from a critical and argumentative approach. At the same time, the limitation regarding the number of students that assist to the seminars will allow to favour the interventions to individual level from different perspectives or orientations for the subjects worked, with which, will facilitate the acquisition of skills very useful for the achievement of aims fixed.
Finally, they will realise tutorías to clear particular problems of each student and facilitate the continuous follow-up of the matter.
Besides, the students will realise, obligatoriamente, a work in group will expose the contents with audiovisual support and of blackboard, and finally will argue of a critical and constructive way said contents.
At all times it will use like support to the teaching the Virtual Campus of the USC. The virtual course allows to the students enrolled in the matter access to all the contents given by the professor, as well as have of relative information to the matter, programs, schedules, seminars, tutorías, etc.
For the evaluation of the subject, four sections will be taken into account: theoretical exam, laboratory practices, presentation of work and active participation in classes and debates.
The final exam (70% of the final grade) will be a single exam, whose completion date is assigned by the Center and is known before the start of the academic year. It will consist of two parts: the first includes multiple choice questions and the second includes several short questions. The exam completion time will be 2 hours.
Competencies evaluated: Con01, Con05, Con07.
Laboratory practices (10% of the final grade). It will be evaluated by assessing the work attitude in the laboratory and by taking a written exam at the end of the practices.
Competencies evaluated: Con01, H/D08.
Presentation of works (10% of the final grade). The written presentation of the work and the oral presentation will be valued.
Competencies evaluated: H/D12, Comp01, Comp07. Continuous evaluation (10% of the final grade).
Active participation in class and participation in debates will be evaluated.
Competencies evaluated: Con01, H/D06.
In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for evaluating the academic performance of students and reviewing grades will apply.
Hours of face-to-face classes and of work of the student (no face-to-face).
Teaching expositiva:
total Hours: 99
Presencialidad: 30% = 30 No face-to-face
hours 70% = 69 hours
Practices:
total Hours: 30
Presencialidad: 50% = 15 No face-to-face
hours 50% = 15 hours
Seminars (includes Works)
total Hours: 9
Presencialidad: 33% = 3 No face-to-face
hours 66% = 6 hours
Tutorías In groups reduced
3 total Hours: 12
Presencialidad: 33% = 3
hours 66% = 9 hours
TOTAL
total Hours: 150
face-to-face Hours: 51
no face-to-face Hours: 99
Attendance at theoretical classes and resolution of doubts in tutorials is recommended.
Bring the subject up to date and delve into the contents presented in the theory classes using the recommended bibliography.
Regularly consult the course developed in the Virtual Classroom.
Consult any questions with the teacher.
The subject is taught in the two official languages of the community, Spanish and Galician.
The 2nd opportunity qualification will be made based on the results obtained in a final exam similar to that done in the 1st opportunity. The other sections subject to grading will also be taken into account (practices, assignments and continuous evaluation), whose grade will be maintained on both occasions of each call.
Only students who have not carried out any activity during the course will be classified as "Not presented".
