Veterinary Pharmacotherapy

1.-To observe carefully the different pharmacological and biological processes in general.
2.-To understand and acquire the concepts of Pharmacotherapy in relation with veterinary training.
3.-To integrate pharmacological knowledge with the knowledge acquired in the rest of the subjects of the Veterinary degree.
4.-To know the main sources of information in order to be able to perform a bibliographic search.
5.-To contrast the data obtained in order to establish and define the corresponding differences to develop critical thinking.
6.-To assimilate the latest advances in Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
7.-To develop the competences necessary to manipulate the basic instruments used in usual pharmacotherapy techniques.
8.-To work as part of a team and collaborate in the tasks of a study or research group.

The master classes will consist in the explanation of the contents of the subject reflected in the annual teaching guide, in combination with classroom tasks related to the explanation given by the teaching staff.
The board practices/seminars are complementary activities that will be inserted within the theoretical content of the program, and that can be taught by the teaching staff or by the students, under the supervision of the former.
Both master classes and board practices/seminars will be carried out in the classroom in 50-minute sessions.
The clinical practices will serve to complement the theoretical contents of the subject and will be fundamentally oriented to acquire skills inherent to clinical practice.
Clinical practical classes FVC1, FVC2, FVC3 and FVC4 will be taught in the laboratory of the Department of Pharmacology and practical class FVC5 at the Rof Codina Veterinary Hospital.
Throughout the course, the student will be assigned tasks (study, work, readings) that will be guided by the teaching staff in classes and tutoring sessions.
The assignments or associated questionnaires will be delivered in the classroom in person or through the virtual classroom. The platforms provided by USC will be used: virtual classroom and Forms.
For deliveries in virtual mode, a period of 1 to 3 weeks will be established depending on the difficulty of the work.
Late deliveries will not be valued.
3 tasks will be assigned and distributed throughout the course based on the following estimate: 1) second fortnight of September, 2) first fortnight of November and 3) end of November and first fortnight of December.
During the semester, questionnaires will be opened on the virtual campus with a delivery time of 1-2 weeks and which require at most 15 minutes to complete.

Student learning during practical training sessions will be continuously evaluated by delivering the results of the activities performed at the end of the practical session.
A continuous assessment of learning will be carried out during the lectures and board/seminar practices through questionnaires and tasks performed by the student throughout the course.
The knowledge acquired during the course will also be evaluated through a final face-to-face examination.
FINAL RATING:
1) 15 % Practical sessions (up to 3 % each practical session).
2) 35 % Continuous evaluation (active participation in classes, questionnaires, tasks).
3) 50 % Exam, consisting of a test type exam and/or short questions in which all the knowledge acquired in the subject will be evaluated. A correction to the probability of passing the test by random answers shall be applied to the test score.
It is necessary to obtain a minimum in each part in order to pass the course. From the final score (over 10 points):
1) At least 0.75 points must be obtained in the practical sessions
2) At least 1.75 points must be obtained in the continuous evaluation
3) At least 2.5 points must be obtained in the examination
If the minimum qualification is not obtained in each part, the final grade will be the maximum qualification obtained in one of the three parts. F
or cases of fraudulent exercises or tests, the regulation “Normativa de avaliación do rendemento académico dos estudantes e de revisión de cualificacións” shall apply.
Class attendance exemptions are not applicable.
In the extraordinary call, the exam can be recovered and will be carried out under the same conditions as in the ordinary call, and the participation grade in the subject and the practical grade will be preserved. Among the different calls in different academic years the score in the practical sessions will be conserved.
