The student will be able to:
- To apply the nursing process to provide and guarantee the well-being quality of the people cared for.
- To identify the care needs derived from health problems of the Digestive System in adults and in the context of Medical-Surgical Nursing.
- To learn about the health disorders of the Digestive System in adults, identifying the manifestations that appear in its different phases.
- To analyze the data collected in the assessment, prioritizes the problems of the adult patient, establishing and executing the care plan and performs its evaluation.
- To perform the techniques and procedures of Medical-Surgical Nursing and those related to care in disorders of the Digestive System, establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patients and their families.
- To select the interventions aimed at treating or preventing problems derived from health deviations related to alterations in the Digestive System and Medical-Surgical nursing.
- To base nursing interventions on scientific evidence and available means.
-To develop those learning skills necessary to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy
UNIT 1. INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING

UNIT 2. ALTERATIONS OF THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM AND NURSING CARE
Topic 1. Digestive system: nursing performance. Assessment, diagnosis and planning.
Topic 2. Esophagus: anatomical memory and most frequent alterations (etiology, signs and symptoms, treatments and nursing care).

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES
CE13. To apply the nursing process to provide and guarantee the well-being, quality and safety of the people cared for.
CE17.To understand adult health disorders, identifying the manifestations that appear in their different phases. Identify care needs derived from health problems. Analyze the data collected in the assessment, prioritize the problems of the adult patient, establish and execute the care plan and carry out its evaluation. Carry out nursing care techniques and procedures, establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients and their families. Select interventions aimed at treating or preventing problems derived from health deviations. Have a cooperative attitude with the different members of the team.
EXPOSITORY TEACHING (25 hours)
The teacher will explain the contents with the support of digital resources.
INTERACTIVE TEACHING (16 hours of seminars and 7 hours of laboratories)
Interactive teaching is intended to reinforce and broaden the contents of expository teaching through the participation and autonomous work of the student.
It will include teaching methodologies such as the presentation and discussion of clinical cases, the use of simulators, the realization of techniques and procedures, the elaboration of Nursing care plans focused on the alterations included in the contents of the subject.
The tools provided by the USC will be used to monitor the subject and communicate with the students.
The evaluation process will be carried out continuously and globally using the following criteria and tools:
EXPOSITORY TEACHING: mastery of the theoretical knowledge of the subject will be assessed through objective tests. It will have a value in the final grade of 60 or 70%.
INTERACTIVE TEACHING: The attitude, participation, ability to work in a team, quality and adequacy of the tasks presented will be valued. The assessment may include objective evidence. It will have a value in the final grade of 30-40%.
As part of the evaluation of interactive teaching, an objective practical test may be carried out.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
-The teaching of this degree is face-to-face and class attendance is regulated by USC regulations.
-To pass the subject it will be necessary to achieve a minimum of 5 points out of 10 in the evaluation of expository teaching and a minimum of 5 points out of 10 in the evaluation of interactive teaching. The evaluation of interactive teaching in case of not reaching said score in each of the parts, the subject would not be passed.
-Exemption from teaching will be applied (in the cases determined by the center and prior request to the corresponding body) in expository classes, but not in interactive classes.
-In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the USC "Regulations for evaluating the academic performance of students and review of qualifications" will apply.
The subject consists of 6 ECTS. Each ECTS credit is equivalent to 25 hours, of which 16.5 correspond to the student's autonomous work, so the assigned study and personal work time is 99 hours.
-Management of the recommended bibliography.
-Procurement and preparation of complementary information.
-Use of tutorials to answer questions or receive guidance.
-Consistency in the study and follow-up of the subject, to improve the learning process, favoring a better understanding and assimilation of concepts.
The use of institutional communication tools is mandatory (USC email, virtual campus...).
