Nowadays, in a complex and multiple world, the study of history is a privileged starting point to face the need of understanding it to taken action. The teaching of History as a simple chronicle of the events, must enable the critical perspective, making place for the teaching of the values of different societies and times, to learn to value and respect them, and learn from them.
The main career opportunity of the graduates in History is, as was to be expected, teaching, although archaeological work is also very relevant.

    Internships

The External Academic Internships (PAE) place students in real professional scenarios that favour the acquisition of knowledge and the implementation of the skills and abilities necessary for their future employment. In this context, students observe, analyse, reflect and learn to make decisions and act. They also allow you to approach the professional world from different dimensions and the development, in a specific space-time context, of the fundamental professional skills of the degree. External academic internships are voluntary.
The Faculty of Geography and History of the USC has a large number of external internship agreements active and renewed in 2022. They can be consulted at the following link:

  • Preparation of an individual work in which the students demonstrate the acquisition and management of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competences provided during the degree. It will be an introductory research work, in which sources of diverse nature can be handled, as well as carrying out bibliographic search and review tasks that allow the completion of an original project in which the ability to organise information is proved, the quality of the writing and the ability to construct one's own discourse around any of the different areas of historiographic study.
The assessment will be carried out by the tribunal and/or tutor (according to the established procedure), after an act of public defence of the Dissertation, assessing the correct completion and presentation of the dissertation and the ability to argue the questions that may be raised by the tribunal and/or tutor.
