Nature
Lugo in itself if a natural wonder. From some of the best beaches in the world, Aguas Santas, to the unique places like the Ribeira Sacra, Lugo makes for a perfect combination of the sea and of the mountain. Lugo has the first Biosphere Reserve declared in Galicia and the second in Spain, the Terras do Miño, and another Biosphere Reserve in the mountain range Ancares Lucenses, not to mention a part of the River Eo, Oscos and the Terras de Burón.
But that's not all: you will also find in a stone´s throw unparalleled capatoline history, such as the Serra del Xistral, la Ría de Ribadeo, a Devesa da Rogueira, the birth of the River Miño en O Pedregal de Irimia… Nature in its pure state that is only waiting for you to discover it.
Heritage
Lugo is an example of real living history, and is much more than just the millennial Roman wall and large urban spaces. In each of its municipalities you will find a story from our shared past, whether it be from the Paleolithic Age´s prehistoric art of the northern Spain, la Cova de Eirós, or the return to the Iron Age hillside settlements, ¨Os castros de Viladonga,¨ or even the remembrance of the death of Mariscal Pardo de Cela and with it, the end of the Galician Middle Ages in the Ponte do Pasatempo in Mondoñedo.
Lugo harbors the oldest cathedral in the south of Europe, called San Martiño de Mondoñedo, and the only church constructed in marble in Spain, O Hospital, both which are unique pieces of heritage that resisted the passing of time.
