Satisfaction Surveys
Global qualification, obtained as the average of the different blocks, shows a slight and constant increase from 3.0 in the 2016/17 academic year to 3.3 in the 2019/20 academic year.Regarding the general information about the program, the evaluation by students in the first year (2016/17) was 2.2. This evaluation increased in the following years, reaching a value of 2.8 in the 2018/19 academic year. Of the various issues raised in this category, the one with the lowest scores (between 1 and 2) was related to the information provided about career opportunities after completing the doctoral program.
The evaluation of administrative procedures, both by first-year students and continuing students, remained fairly constant over time, ranging between 3.0 and 3.2.
The evaluation of the involved agents (EDIUS or EIDO, thesis directors and tutors, administrative staff, and program coordinator) was also fairly constant, with values around 3. The highest evaluations (above a rating of 4) among the involved agents were received by thesis directors and tutors.
The evaluation of available resources (material, bibliographic, and research resources, as well as workspaces) was good and remained steady with a rating in the range of 3.4-4.0.
The training offer was positively evaluated by students, with a consistent rating between 3 and 3.4. The question that received the highest score was whether the topic of their thesis met their expectations.
If we observe the evaluations obtained in the different categories during the last surveyed academic year, we can see that the category with the lowest evaluation is general information about the program, while the category with the highest evaluation is resources.
The results of the satisfaction surveys are shown organized into four categories: (1) structure, management and organization, (2) resources, (3) development of the doctoral program, (4) evaluation functions, supervision and recognition of the work carried out; finally, the overall satisfaction score was calculated.
In general, faculty satisfaction is rated between 3.6 and 3.9, with a slight upward trend, while doctoral students' satisfaction rating exceeds 4.
Regarding satisfaction with structure, management, and organization, a positive trend is observed in the evaluation for this category, increasing from 3.3 in the 2017/18 academic year to 4 in the 2019/20 academic year.
In terms of available resources, there is a slight upward trend in satisfaction, with a rating of 3.9 in the last year. Among the questions raised in this category, the one that received the highest score was related to the adequacy and availability of material resources, i.e. laboratories, classrooms, workshops, special equipment, bibliographic resources, telecommunications resources, and networks.
In the category development of the doctoral program, a fairly constant evaluation is observed, with a slight increase between 3.4 and 3.9.
The category of satisfaction with evaluation functions, supervision, and recognition of the work shows an upward trend, increasing from 2.3 in the 2017/18 academic year to 3.0 in the 2019/20 academic year. Low scores (between 2.3 and 2.9) were obtained regarding satisfaction with the recognition mechanism (teaching commitment) of thesis tutoring and supervision work, highlighting the lack of training for thesis directors.
