OBJECTIVES

Apply the knowledge acquired in the subjects: Fundamentals of Optometry, Optometry I, Optometry II, Optometry III and their relationships with other subjects in order to apply them in the Optometric care of real patients


- Know and apply visual screening techniques applied to different populations
- Identify and analyze environmental and occupational risk factors that can cause visual problems
- Know, apply and interpret instrumental tests related to visual health problems
- Have the ability to prescribe, control and monitor optical corrections
- Know how to take a complete anamnesis
- Acquire skills in the instrumental tests for the evaluation of visual functions and eye health
- Acquire dexterity for the interpretation and clinical judgment of the results of visual tests, to establish the most suitable diagnosis and treatment.

PRESENTIAL

23 hours of classroom teaching (3 hours per week)

Blackboard class in large group: Lesson given by the teacher that can have different formats (theory, problems and / or general examples, general guidelines of the subject, ...). The teacher can count on the support of audiovisual and computer media. Workshops with resolution in virtual campus. Public exhibitions and play-roll developments, flipped classroom
Clinical practice in a very small group: This includes the realization of practicals in modules of 2 students per group, keeping all the hygienic and sanitary measures that requires. With support from Teams and Moodle
Clinical practice includes participation in screening online.

EVALUATION OF THEORETICAL CONTENTS AND SEMINARS

1.- Theoretical part (expository classes and student work) 5 points

* Continuous assessment of work done by students (research work on any of the topics proposed by the subject's teaching staff) 2 points.
* Evaluation by holistic competency rubric
* Exam test knowledge matter 1 point
* 1 point for attendance

2.-Practical part (online and face-to-face clinic) 5 points,

* 2 points, for online visual health screening work in the elderly population (general questionnaire – FVSQ questionnaire) through Forms-Moodle (student-teacher feedback). Evaluation by rubric. The non-completion of this phase, does not allow face-to-face clinical practice.
* preparing informative material on visual health based on online screening data. Evaluation by rubric
* 3 points, for face-to-face clinical work (2.5 points practical work + 0.5 points optometric report) in foundations-organizations-elderly residences in our community. Evaluation by analytical rubric of clinical competencies.

Attendance and completion of the practical part of the subject is mandatory.
The lack of practical sessions without justifying, will force the realization of practical exam.

The total hours of personal work of the student are 75 hours, distributed as follows:

Autonomous individual or group study: 46 h.

Writing exercises, conclusions or other works: 5 h.

Programming, experimentation or other computer / laboratory work: 8 h.

Recommended readings, activities in the library or similar: 8 h.

Preparation of oral presentations, debates or similar: 8 h.

Para poder integrar adecuadamente los conceptos impartidos en Optometría IV, es

especialmente recomendable que el alumno conozca, comprenda y sepra desarrollar los conceptos explicados en

las asignaturas Fundamentos de Optometría, Optometría I, Optometría II y Optometría III, así

como sus relaciones con el resto de las materias.
